What is a Skill Game ?
The "Skill Game" sets traditionally pay-per-play games where skill, sagacity, cunning, daring and combinations of intelligence predominate over chance to obtain the gain.
This type of gaming is contrasted against gambling (Games of Chance), where chance predominates over skill in the goal of winning a prize.
Sports betting, baccara, bingo and traditional casino games are games of chance.
Texas Hold'em poker (the most popular and widespread form of poker on the Internet), is considered to be at the frontier while backgammon is widely recognized as a game of skill.
Poker: despite the significant amount of analysis, psychology, cunning and daring that are required to become an experienced player, is featured in most of the world as a game of chance. The reason for this classification for the Texas Holdem Poker is that chance and disclosure of cards comes at each key stage of the game, after every opportunity to wager, check down or restart:
1) Distribution of the first two cards (the first random intervention) after payment of the "BLIND"
2) Distribution of the first 3 community cards (the flop) after another round of betting,
3) The fourth card is revealed (the turning point, "the turn" in English), after a round of betting
4) The fifth and final card is revealed (the turning point, "the turn" in English), after a round of betting
Note that poker is located at the border between these famous Skill Games on one side and Games of Chance on the other, and no doubt that the jurisprudence in this area will evolve in different countries. As for instance, Lithuania has officially declared such poker as a sport in 2010, paving the way in this country to a free use of this game like any other service.
What about Newturf?
Newturf horse racing game, if we put aside the betting part of it, is truly a game of skill.
All other actions into the game (training, buying and selling horse, claiming horse, driving and riding (jockey), race nominations, all follow pure logical path or mathematical algorithms with absolutely NO RANDOM function.
The Random Number Generator (RNG), scaling, and mapping algorithms used (in small proportion) in the transmission from one generation to another of genetic factors (heredity and breeding algorithms) have been independantly evaluated as fair and not predictable.
