F.A.Q. |
19-1 How is determined the minimum number of runners for a race? |
All players must take the initiative to organise a public race, i.e. a race that is open to all Newturf players.
When organising a public race, the racecourse Manager will be debited 48% of the inscription fee.
If the race reaches 5 or more participants, then the racecourse Manager is reimbursed the set-up cost and earns a commission that is equal to 7% of the total amount of the inscription fees.
As with every public race, 93% of the takings are redistributed among the winning horse owners.
If the race doesn't take place, or includes only 2, 3 or 4 participants, then the racecourse Manager does not get a refund on the set-up cost, and receives no commission.

19-2 Can a racetrack manager cancel a race? |
A race can not be cancelled if there is at least one owner registered to it.
19-3 If on the 1st of November I create a race for 7-year old horses, will the race be open for 8-year old horses the following month ? |
No they will be open for 7-year old horses only, but 8-year old horses already registered will remain in the registered list.
19-4 Is there any time frame to set a race fixture? |
You cannot set the race time later than in the next 48 hours. |
19-5 What is the risk involved if I create a public race? |
At the creation of a public race, the track manager is debited of a desposit equal to 49% of the race entry fee set by track manager.
This deposit is not refunded in the following cases:
- Hurdle: less than 3 runners.
- Trotting or Flat racing: less than 4 runners
Above these numbers of runners, not only the racetrack manager will be reimbursed the deposit, but he won a success fee equal to 7% of nomination fees (number of runners time race entry fee)! |
19-6 Why penalize the creation of public races by track Manager debiting the cost of creation? Is not it better for Newturf game to see a large number of races made available to racehorse owners? |
On Newturf experience shows that this is not the supply, which stimulates demand, in terms of filling races.
Beyond a certain level, these races compete among themselves to undermine and ultimately to fill each of them.
Experience also shows that the players in general, prefer to run less often in races with 8 to 12 runners, than running most often in races with 2 to 4 runners.
In conclusion, if there were no risk to the creation of public race, there would undoubtedly be too many courses offered, and this would produce a devastating effect on the degree of filling races.
Furthermore, we believe that from the moment the manager has a hope of gain related to its initiative (Committee of success if its course met three runners in the race barrier or four runners in the race for Trot or Flat) it is normal that there is a risk involved. The two go hand in hand. |

19-7 How many horses can we invite for a reserved race? |
19-8 Why cannot we create any trotting race on a 1000m or 1600m distance? |
Because the schedule of trot public races is managed by Newturf. Due to that, 7% of the trot registration fees goes in the trot pot as NewTurf takes no "Manager" commission (the organizer of the race takes a commission of 7%).
But Newturf let managers create races over distances of 2200m and 3000m because there is less demand for those races, NewTurf does not want to unnecessarily change the schedule for those distances, because players will be more willing to participate in those races if they are the ones organizing them.
